A PC puzzle-platformer assessed in 2014
Santa Maria reviewed Gojira’s Munin on PC for Geekenstein on June 19, 2014. Its Norse-inspired premise had Loki transform the raven Munin into a girl and scatter her feathers. Players rotated sections of the environment while navigating the character to collect them. The review concerned the PC version rather than a hands-on test of the mobile editions.
Working out the room
The reviewer enjoyed logically discovering paths through the rotating environments. Later levels introduced moving platforms, rolling stones and water that had to be directed into reservoirs. He described 77 levels and steep increases in difficulty. Loose physics sometimes frustrated him, but occasionally made an improvised solution feel rewarding.
Solving did not always mean succeeding
Santa Maria’s principal criticism concerned executing a solution with simultaneous keyboard movement and mouse-controlled rotation. Repeated character deaths could make a puzzle frustrating even after he understood it. He believed the control arrangement suited touch interaction better, but that was a hypothesis about mobile play rather than a tested conclusion.
The artwork was a strength
The reviewer praised the vivid, painted appearance and the way rotated sections continued to fit their surroundings. He liked the character art as well. Those qualities gave the game a memorable presentation, but did not outweigh the control friction in his assessment of the PC release.
The historical verdict and its limits
Santa Maria found the PC edition underwhelming and questioned its price relative to the then-announced mobile versions. This edition does not treat those old prices or release plans as current offers. His negative recommendation concerned the reviewed build and input scheme; no new playtest, score or mobile recommendation is supplied.
